This Mallayer antique rug measures 94 x 391 cm and presents a slender format with a muted palette of ivory, taupe, brown, and softened blue-green. The composition centres on an elongated medallion field with dense floral arabesque ornament, enclosed by a fine inner border and a more expressive outer border of repeating vine and rosette motifs. Medium distress is visible throughout, with fading and abrasion that mellow the drawing and add texture at the edges. Circa 1900 - 1930, it offers the layered character and aged restraint often sought in Mallayer weaving.
