This Mallayer antique rug measures 84 x 475 cm and offers a long, composed field in teal, rust brown, cream, and softened neutral tones. The design is richly worked, with repeating floral vine motifs and medallion forms extended through the centre, framed by narrow borders and geometric guard details. Light age-related wear and faded areas lend the surface a calm, lived-in character without interrupting the rhythm of the drawing. Circa 1885 - 1900, it carries the measured elegance and textile depth often seen in Mallayer weaving, where pattern and patina sit in quiet balance.
