This Mallayer antique rug measures 368 x 625 cm and shows a softened allover floral field framed by a quiet border, now partially absorbed into the surface. The palette blends neutral grey, faded blue, ivory, muted rust and charcoal, giving the rug a cool, weathered presence with warmer notes beneath. High distress has blurred the pattern into a layered, almost atmospheric composition, while abrasion and fading add to its depth and character. Circa 1900 - 1915, it feels grounded in age, with the original design still readable through its worn, softly nuanced finish.
