This mallayer antique rug measures 117 x 498 cm and carries a refined, elongated composition in teal, rust, brown, and cream. Four repeating medallions anchor the centre, each filled with a dense floral lattice and outlined by crisp, stepped edges, while ivory ground sections introduce open space and gentle contrast. The border work remains finely resolved, with small-scale ornament that supports the structure rather than competing with it. Circa 1890 - 1905, the rug shows low wear, mellowed colour, and a calm surface character that feels balanced and authentic. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
