This Mallayer antique rug measures 124 x 180 cm and reflects the balanced rhythm and worn grace associated with the type. A pale aqua field frames a repeated arrangement of cartouche-like motifs in rust red, black, ivory, and muted gold, set within a border of scrolling floral ornament and stylised botanical forms. The design remains legible despite substantial fading and surface variation, which give the piece a softly weathered presence. Circa 1885 - 1900, it offers a layered, tactile look, where age has blurred the finer lines without diminishing the rug's composed structure or heritage character.
