This Mallayer antique rug measures 185 x 457 cm and presents a long, softened field of small geometric medallions, floral rosettes, and bracketed motifs. The composition is enclosed by a layered red border with narrow guard bands, while the neutral ground shifts through cream, taupe, brown, and muted blue tones. Medium distress is visible across the surface, including fading, abrash, and worn areas that soften the pattern without obscuring it. Circa 1885 - 1900, it has the settled character of a lived-in antique rug, with an understated palette and a heritage feel shaped by age and gentle wear.
