This Mallayer antique rug measures 102 x 373 cm and offers a long, ordered composition with repeating geometric medallions set within a grounded red border. The teal-blue field is worked with stylised floral and vine motifs in blush, ivory, soft gold, and muted brown, giving the design a steady pulse from end to end. Low distress and softened wear have gently reduced the pile in places, which lends the surface an understated, timeworn character while keeping the pattern legible. Circa 1885 - 1900, it reflects the measured geometry and layered colour contrasts associated with the Mallayer tradition.
