This Mallayer antique rug, 97 x 399 cm, is drawn with a long vertical rhythm of repeating floral medallions, rosettes, and leafy forms. Neutral cream and white are lifted by green, muted blue, and brown, creating a softened palette with quiet contrast. The border is slender and structured, enclosing the field with balance while the worn pile and faded areas lend an easy, timeworn character. Circa 1900 - 1915, it has the layered presence of a piece shaped by age, with pattern and patina working closely together. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
