This Mallayer antique rug measures 163 x 356 cm and has a subdued, weathered elegance. The field is washed in turquoise, cream, beige, and taupe, with an allover floral rhythm held within a narrow geometric border and fine inner guard lines. Age has softened the drawing, so the motifs read in layers of fade, blur, and worn relief rather than crisp contrast. Medium distress is visible throughout, along with frayed fringe and gentle edge character. Circa 1920 - 1940, it presents the restrained ornament and tonal depth often found in Mallayer weaving.
