This Mallayer antique rug measures 330 x 663 cm and unfolds in a long, formal layout with a weathered teal centre framed by warm brown, ivory, rust, and muted grey notes. A dense field of scrolling floral ornament and repeated boteh-like motifs is bordered by layered floral bands that retain definition despite the visible wear. The surface shows medium distress, with fading, abrasion, and softly muted contrast that temper the pattern beautifully. Circa 1890 - 1910, this Mallayer reads with the grounded character and tonal nuance of an aged, design-led rug.
