This Mallayer antique rug measures 102 x 396 cm and presents a long, evenly proportioned field in sky blue and aqua, warmed by cream, brown and muted coral accents. The composition unfolds as an allover floral lattice, with repeating palmettes, small boteh-like forms and fine border bands that hold the design in clear focus. Light age wear and softened colour lend the surface a calm, lived-in character, while the low distress preserves much of the pattern’s detail. Circa 1915 - 1930, this piece captures the restrained intricacy and faded elegance that define a considered Mallayer weave.
