This Mallayer antique rug measures 190 x 452 cm, with a slender proportion and a surface shaped by time. Its composition pairs a repeating central floral column with structured border bands, rendered in brown, cream, white, and softened neutral tones, with traces of muted blue-green still visible through the wear. Circa 1895 - 1910, the rug shows high distress, broad fading, and pronounced abrasion, creating a quietly aged, tactile finish that preserves the outline of its original ornament while leaving much of the ground beautifully subdued. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
