This Mallayer antique rug measures 127 x 521 cm and presents a long, concentrated field of floral and geometric ornament in deep blue, turquoise, cream, brown, coral, and gold. Its slender proportion amplifies the repeating motifs, while the layered border structure holds the composition in clear architectural balance. Low distress, gentle fading, and visible wear have softened the contrasts and given the surface a calm, collected presence. Circa 1885 - 1900, this piece reflects the intricate patterning and colour density often associated with Mallayer weaving. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
