Mallayer antique rug, 236 x 358 cm, with a heavily softened field where floral patterning dissolves into layers of cream, white, faded blue, and muted red. The border remains more legible, framing the composition with scrolling botanical motifs and an aged, timeworn outline. Its high distress gives the surface a washed, nearly fresco-like presence, while traces of darker ground still gather in the centre. Circa 1920 - 1940, this Mallayer carries the quiet character of a rug that has been lived with and visually worn into a pale, textured calm.
