This Mallayer antique rug measures 99 x 467 cm and presents a long, narrow format with a calm, disciplined rhythm. The field is filled with repeating floral medallions, lattice-like vines, and interlocking arabesques, framed by a slender border of small blossoms in ivory, muted blue-green, soft grey, and worn brown with hints of faded gold. The drawing is finely spaced yet gently mellowed by age, giving the piece a subdued, lived-in surface. With low distress and an even patina, Circa 1900 - 1920, it retains the quiet clarity and decorative balance associated with Mallayer weaving.
