This Mallayer antique rug measures 94 x 399 cm, with a long, slender profile and a richly ordered floral field organised around an ivory central medallion. The composition balances stepped geometric forms with dense blossoms, scrolling details, and layered rosettes in dark navy, sky blue, rust, blush, olive, and gold. A floral border, supported by narrow guard borders, brings definition to the design. Visible wear has softened the contrast and given the surface a calm, timeworn character. Circa 1920 - 1940, it carries the depth, nuance, and decorative precision that define Mallayer weaving.
