This Mallayer antique rug measures 102 x 511 cm and carries the calm, elongated rhythm of a narrow runner. A chain of hexagonal medallions moves through the field, outlined in faded rose and settled into a ground of cream, ivory, taupe, and pale blue. The border retains its floral and star detailing, giving structure to the softened interior pattern. Visible wear has mellowed the contrasts and blurred the drawing in places, creating a gentle patina across the surface. Circa 1895 - 1915, it reflects the quiet, timeworn presence associated with a thoughtfully aged Mallayer antique rug.
