This Soumak antique rug measures 173 x 277 cm and is composed of stepped medallions, compact tribal motifs, and a star-studded border that gives the design a measured rhythm. A coral ground is balanced by navy, ivory, faded teal, and soft grey, with muted gold notes dispersed throughout. The surface shows visible age, with softened colour, tonal variation, and worn areas that lend it a calm, tactile presence. Circa 1880 - 1900, it reflects the graphic vocabulary and weathered character often sought in Soumak pieces. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
