This Soumak antique rug, measuring 216 x 345 cm, brings together a red ground with blue, cream, white, and muted neutral notes. Its composition is organised around stacked stepped diamonds, each outlined with crisp angular detail and dotted with smaller motifs that lend the surface a lively, woven cadence. A dense multicolour border of repeating geometric squares encloses the field, with a narrow zigzag outer frame adding contrast. Circa 1920 - 1940, the rug shows low distress and gentle age-related wear, leaving the wool texture and colour variation clearly visible.
