This Mallayer antique rug measures 94 x 488 cm and presents a rare elongated field, organised by repeating diamond medallions and a delicate lattice of floral ornament. The tonal surface is grounded in neutral beige, cream, brown, and faded blue-grey, with the border holding a fine sequence of small motifs that frame the composition. Medium distress has mellowed the drawing, producing soft fading, worn passages, and an overall gently weathered hand. Circa 1920 - 1940, it reflects the restrained elegance and time-softened detail associated with Mallayer rugs. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
