This Mallayer antique rug measures 99 x 389 cm and presents a long, composed format with an allover field of geometric blossoms, diamonds, and small hooked details. Woven in wool, it holds a brown and neutral ground, tempered by cream, white, and subtle notes of muted colour along the border. The pile has worn down in places, softening the contrasts and giving the design a quieter, more atmospheric presence. Circa 1915 - 1940, it reflects the disciplined patterning and layered ornament typical of Mallayer weaving, with medium distress that adds character without obscuring the drawn motifs.
