This Mallayer antique rug measures 180 x 348 cm and balances an elaborate allover floral lattice with a strong blue outer border. Rust red, faded coral, teal blue, ivory, camel, and charcoal create a layered palette that has softened beautifully over time. Woven in wool, the surface shows evident wear and a mellowed handle, giving the pattern a quietly aged depth. Circa 1900 - 1920, this Mallayer carries the dense ornament and measured symmetry that define the type, while its worn edges and muted tones add a lived-in clarity to the composition.
