This Mallayer antique rug measures 104 x 417 cm and shows a long, graceful field organised by a repeating boteh-like lattice, subdued by age into a calm, textural surface. Wool in neutral beige and brown is accented with muted green and soft blue-grey, while the narrow border runs with geometric and vine-like detail. Medium wear is visible across the face, with fading, abrasion, and softened edges that lend character rather than distraction. Circa 1900 - 1930, it reflects the restrained patterning and measured palette associated with the Mallayer tradition, offering an aged presence shaped by use and time.
