This Mallayer antique rug, 206 x 290 cm, balances an intricate floral centre with a bold, layered border of paisley forms and small geometric guards. Woven in wool, its palette of cream, white, muted teal, and softened taupe has mellowed into a gentle, atmospheric surface. The wear is evenly distributed, with areas of fading that give the design an especially hushed character while preserving its decorative rhythm. Circa 1900 - 1930, it offers the layered detail and lived-in grace associated with a finely aged Mallayer. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
