This Mallayer antique rug measures 216 x 599 cm, with a long, slender profile and a composition that balances geometry with floral ornament. The field is organised around repeating scalloped forms, surrounded by a detailed border of stylised blossoms and vines, while the worn surface has softened the pattern into an airy, faded whole. Weathered blue, ivory, taupe, grey, and muted olive tones sit within the wool, giving the rug a calm, layered presence. Circa 1920 - 1940, it shows medium distress, with visible fading and abrasion that deepen its timeworn character.
