This Mallayer antique rug measures 117 x 190 cm and unfolds in a richly structured composition of floral geometry, stepped forms, and repeating border ornament. Deep indigo is lifted by rust red, ivory, sky blue, camel, and soft pink, giving the field a layered, weathered depth. The wool surface shows age with a softened hand and gentle fading that tempers the pattern without diminishing its clarity. Circa 1900 - 1925, it reflects the composed, expressive character often associated with the Mallayer tradition, with decorative detail carried through the centre and borders.
