This Mallayer antique rug measures 99 x 411 cm and unfolds in a long, narrow composition with a densely patterned centre, floral vine side borders, and layered guard borders that frame the design. Brick red, rust, ivory, taupe, charcoal, and muted orange give the wool surface a warm, time-softened palette. The repeating geometry, small medallion forms, and floral details move steadily along the length, while the wear lends an understated patina. Circa 1900 - 1925, it reflects the textured character and balanced ornament associated with a well-kept Mallayer. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
