This Mallayer antique rug measures 325 x 406 cm and shows a finely weathered field of compact geometric pattern framed by floral borders and slim guard bands. The palette leans into neutral beige, brown, cream, and notes of faded blue and rust, lending the surface a softened, settled quality. A broad lozenge-shaped centre anchors the design, while the border draws the eye with small-scale botanical detail. Medium wear has gently reduced the contrast and deepened the wool's tactile character. Circa 1900 - 1920, it reflects the quiet intricacy and aged restraint associated with a Mallayer.
