This Mallayer antique rug measures 201 x 376 cm and is woven in wool with a muted, highly distressed surface. Its layered border structure and faded allover field still show traces of geometric and floral ornament, though the design has softened into tonal ivory, cream, and beige. The wear is substantial, giving the rug a washed, atmospheric character with gentle contrast and visible age throughout. Border detail remains more defined than the centre, which reads as especially worn and open. Circa 1925 - 1945. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
