This Mallayer antique rug, measuring 145 x 267 cm, carries a grounded palette of brown, cream, white, and muted colour variation that softens the crisp geometry of the design. The elongated field is worked with an allover lattice of small repeating motifs, framed by a structured border of floral and angular elements. Medium distress is visible in the form of fading, abrash, and gently worn edges, giving the wool surface a tactile, time-softened quality. Circa 1890 - 1905, it reflects the measured character and layered detail associated with a classic Mallayer.
