This Mallayer antique rug measures 99 x 498 cm and unfolds in a long, ordered field of repeating geometric star-flower motifs, worked in brown, cream, red, and restrained blue-green notes. The pattern alternates with denser bands of colour, giving the composition rhythm across its length while the narrow border keeps the edges neatly contained. Woven in wool, it has low distress, with gentle fading and a softened hand that reflect age gracefully. Circa 1880 - 1910, it offers a calm, heritage-rich presence shaped by pattern, wear, and an earthy palette.
