This Mallayer antique rug, measuring 157 x 353 cm, presents an elongated composition anchored by an arched central reserve and framed by intricate borders that lend structure and restraint. Wool in cream, beige, muted blue, brown, and traces of soft green and rose creates a muted, atmospheric palette with gentle tonal variation. Repeating floral motifs, stepped borders, and narrow guard bands keep the design moving from end to end. Medium wear, softened contrast, and age visible at the edges contribute to its lived-in character. Circa 1890 - 1910, it reads as a refined example of Mallayer weaving.
