This Mallayer antique rug measures 127 x 188 cm and offers a refined interplay of light ground and dark ornament. The cream field is anchored by a bold central medallion, with floral corner panels, slender borders, and small pendant forms adding rhythm around the perimeter. Browns, black, muted blue, and faded rust sit within the wool in a muted, heritage-led palette. Circa 1885 - 1900, the surface shows medium age-related wear and softened colour, giving the rug a calm, lived-in character that remains clearly articulated. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
