This Mallayer antique rug measures 119 x 180 cm and presents a tightly composed field of diamonds, floral rosettes, and scrolling motifs, all held within a coral border and restrained guard bands. The wool surface shows visible wear and gentle fading, which softens the palette of coral red, ivory, taupe, charcoal, and sand. Its pattern remains articulate, but the passage of time has given the piece a calm, atmospheric character. Circa 1885 - 1900, it offers the layered geometry and decorative rhythm often associated with Mallayer weaving. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
