This Mallayer antique rug measures 262 x 610 cm and presents an allover arrangement of geometric medallions, floral motifs, and fine lattice detail, all held within a slender, decorative border. Woven in wool, its palette of faded teal, cream, ivory, taupe, and brown has mellowed into a gentle, weathered harmony. Strong distress softens the drawing across the field, creating a layered surface with visible wear and a quietly aged character. Circa 1880 - 1900, it retains the discipline of its original design while allowing the passage of time to shape its mood and texture.
