This Mahal antique rug measures 320 x 376 cm and carries a softly worn field of layered geometric and floral ornament, enclosed by a broad floral border and narrow guard borders. Wool in neutral and brown tones is accented by faded terracotta, muted teal, and grey-green, while the surface shows a dry, heavily aged patina. Despite the visible distress, the pattern retains a balanced, grounded presence with plenty of atmospheric depth. Circa 1910 - 1930, it offers the quiet complexity of a rug shaped by time, with softened edges and a richly worn hand.
