This Mallayer antique rug measures 244 x 391 cm and presents a subdued palette of cream, white, taupe, and brown, with muted grey notes emerging in the worn surface. The design is gently eroded by age, leaving a softened central field framed by a patterned border of geometric floral forms and faint medallion echoes. Woven in wool, it has the layered, timeworn character associated with high-distress Mallayer pieces. Circa 1910 - 1940, it offers a hushed, textural presence, where the original pattern is still legible beneath the patina. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
