This Mallayer antique rug measures 97 x 297 cm and carries a long, narrow composition shaped by age and use. A brick red ground is tempered by faded rose, navy, camel and muted sage details, with a finely worked border that gives the field a clear frame. Repeating floral and boteh-inspired motifs move along the centre in a softened, almost brushed register, while visible wear and fading add texture without obscuring the design. Circa 1890 - 1905, it speaks to the balanced patterning and understated character associated with Mallayer weaving.
