This Mallayer antique rug measures 427 x 546 cm and carries a calm, time-softened composition in wool. The blue ground is worked with scrolling floral vines, palmettes, boteh, and delicate blossom forms, then framed by layered borders that keep the design beautifully ordered. Cream, white, muted rose, and taupe soften the palette, while the visible wear gives the surface a gentle patina and a lived-in tactility. Circa 1925 - 1955, it shows the lyrical symmetry and floral detail associated with a classic Mallayer, here rendered with an airy, spacious quality.
