This Mallayer antique rug measures 348 x 490 cm and shows a richly aged surface, with a dark blue ground broken by broad white wear and softened floral patterning. Teal, cream, and faded rose tones remain in the border and field, keeping the composition legible while enhancing its weathered depth. Wool pile with medium distress gives the rug a lived-in texture and a calm, timeworn presence. Circa 1885 - 1900, it reflects the balanced drawing and muted palette associated with Mallayer rugs, translated here through visible fading and a refined sense of age.
