This Mallayer antique rug measures 160 x 297 cm and offers a layered geometric composition softened by age. A vertical medallion chain runs through the centre, set within an all-over field of hooked and diamond forms and enclosed by a slim floral border. The wool surface blends brick red, rust, brown, taupe, and muted blue, with medium distress that brings visible fading and a timeworn character to the design. Circa 1880 - 1900, it reflects the grounded structure and decorative rhythm often found in Mallayer weaving. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
