This Mallayer antique rug, 312 x 566 cm, is composed with a long, measured field of repeating floral motifs, medallions, and boteh-like forms set against a dark ground. The palette of neutral brown, cream, white, and muted teal is softened by age, giving the design a layered, atmospheric quality. A narrow floral border completes the composition with understated balance. Circa 1920 - 1955, the surface shows medium wear, visible fading, and areas of abrash that enrich the character of the wool.
