This Soumak antique rug measures 160 x 310 cm, and presents a richly worn surface in neutral, red, white, and cream, lifted by dark blue-green and burgundy notes. Three stacked medallions organise the field, framed by a slim inner border and a more intricate outer border of floral and geometric detail. The wool has softened beautifully over time, with low distress, fading, and an uneven edge character that add to its quiet depth. Circa 1880 - 1900, it balances ornament and restraint in a manner that feels distinctly lived with and visually layered.
