This Mallayer antique rug, 259 x 318 cm, presents a muted field of blue-grey and neutral tones, enclosed by a rust red and brown border touched with ivory. The allover floral lattice is intricate but understated, while the surrounding border brings structure through palmettes, rosettes, and small geometric details. Medium wear and visible fading soften the pattern and create a layered, lived-in surface. Circa 1920 - 1940, it has the calm density and gently aged presence that define the Mallayer rug tradition.
