This Mallayer antique rug measures 312 x 414 cm and features a softly faded floral field set within a red ground border worked with scrolling blossoms. Wool in red, brown, and neutral tones is tempered by weathered teal-blue and ivory highlights, giving the piece a restrained, timeworn depth. The centre remains richly patterned, though the design has softened into an open, painterly surface through age and use. Circa 1900 - 1935, it reflects the enduring character and mellow finish of a well-kept Mallayer. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
