This Mallayer antique rug measures 213 x 579 cm and carries a long, slender composition built around an allover floral lattice, edged by slim borders that keep the design balanced and contained. Wool lends the surface a natural, tactile quality, while the restrained mix of brown, cream, white, and neutral colour has mellowed into a softly aged palette. Areas of fading, abrasion, and worn passages are visible through the centre and along the field, giving the piece depth and atmosphere. Circa 1900 - 1920, it offers the quietly layered character of a well-worn antique rug.
