This Mallayer antique rug measures 97 x 493 cm, with a long, slender field rendered in faded blue and ivory, lifted by rust, camel, and taupe. The composition unfolds in an allover floral lattice, repeated medallion forms, and a narrow border that holds the design in balance from end to end. Age has mellowed the colours and softened the pattern, leaving a worn, tactile surface with clear abrash and gentle edge character. Circa 1880 - 1900, it carries the quiet formality and lived-in presence associated with a finely aged antique rug.
