This Mallayer antique rug, measuring 213 x 427 cm, is woven in wool with a subdued palette of brown, cream and warm neutral tones. The long, architectural format is organised by an allover floral-geometric field, enclosed by layered borders and slender guard bands that sharpen the composition. Medium distress is visible in the softened pile, faded contrasts and lightly irregular edges, all of which add to its worn character. Circa 1900 - 1915, it carries the quiet presence of an antique textile with clear pattern definition and an earthy, heritage-led sensibility.
