This Mallayer antique rug measures 262 x 404 cm and balances a dense geometric ground with softened floral details and a finely drawn outer border. Woven in wool, the composition unfolds in neutral, white and cream tones, tempered by warm beige and muted brown notes that have mellowed with age. Stepped corner spandrels interrupt the field with quiet structure, while the overall pattern remains cohesive and readable. Circa 1900 - 1915, it shows medium distress, gentle fading and a worn surface that emphasise its tactile, time-softened character. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
