This Mallayer antique rug measures 127 x 386 cm and shows a long, elegant field of floral and vine motifs worked in faded rose, burgundy, taupe, ivory, and muted sage. The pattern is densely layered yet softened by age, with a fine border tracing the perimeter and holding the composition in balance. Medium distress gives the surface a gently weathered look, while the worn pile and pale repaired sections add to its tactile presence. Circa 1900 - 1915, this wool Mallayer has the quiet, collected feeling of a rug shaped by time rather than restored away from it.
